Roth says that his five upcoming Las Vegas shows will be his last ever shows. Alex Van Halen, Van Halen co-founder and drummer, is expected to join David for the last five shows.

The former Van Halen singer is still clearly stressed following the death of Eddie Van Halen. I am encouraged and compelled to really come to grips with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter, he told the Review.

On his left hip, he said, he has a tattoo with the phrase stay frosty. On the right hip, the outline of a .45-caliber pistol.

“Kind of a yin-yang thing,” he said.

He could well have been talking about the classic Van Halen dynamic.

There’s the Van Halen brothers, Eddie, 56, on guitar and Alex, 59, on drums. They put in their 10,000 hours playing weddings with their father, Jan Van Halen – a jazz clarinetist – then on to bars and eventually stadiums.

They’re craftsmen with a capital C. And as rock guitarists go, Eddie’s a dive-bombing, finger-tapping innovator, still ridiculously on top of his game, as he proved Monday.

These approaches are complementary – if famously combustible – opposites. And for most of Monday’s 22-song, nearly two-hour show – so packed that the band barely came up for air between numbers – that complementary-opposite dynamic jelled.

And such tracks especially suited the band.

A Little Ain’t Enough

A Little Ain’t Enough is the third full-length album by The David Lee Roth Band, released in 1991. It was certified Gold on April 11, 1991. Produced by Bob Rock, the album featured the lead guitar work of Jason Becker, a then up-and-coming guitarist who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis a week after joining the band. He managed to finish recording the album, but was unable to tour in support of the album, as his condition left him with little strength in his hands.

Sales of the album were helped by the controversy surrounding the promotional music video released for the album’s first single, “A Li’l Ain’t Enough” featuring barely dressed women and black-faced and oddly dressed little people, the video was banned from MTV shortly after its initial airing.

Although A Little Ain’t Enough went out of print on the Warner Bros. label in 1996, it was later reissued in 2007 on the Friday Music label.

David Lee Roth Return To Van Halen: 2007present

In March 2007 five members of Van Halen, the four original members and Sammy Hagar were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Van Halen brothers did not attend due to Eddies condition. Roth was to perform with the band Velvet Revolver however, conflict with the band caused his part to be canceled. Roth subsequently did not attend the induction, leaving only Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar to represent Van Halen. Both Anthony and Hagar thanked Roth publicly for his contribution to the band during the awards acceptance. Roth did not attend the ceremony and the event was considered yet another public embarrassment for the band.

The conflict was rumored to be based on song selection. Roth wanted to perform Jump, the bands highest-charting song, but Velvet Revolver would only agree to play Aint Talkin Bout Love or You Really Got Me. When it was finally agreed upon that Paul Shaffer would perform Jump, Roth claimed there was no longer enough time to rehearse and opted not to attend the ceremony.

On G4s animated comedy show titled Code Monkeys, Roth was depicted in the 1980s, giving an inspirational speech to keep the others from taking up jobs at Bellecovision and asked, Would David Lee Roth leave Van Halen?
