If you have an interest in tattoo removal, speak with a skin medical professional about the alternatives. Do not try tattoo removal by yourself. How Many Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment Sessions Will It Take To Remove My Tattoo

PicoSure is the world’s first and only picosecond aesthetic laser cleared by the FDA. PicoSure achieves visibly clearer, ink-free skin faster. Even difficult ink colors such as blues and greens, as well as previously treated tattoos, can be removed in fewer treatments with better clearance and improved recovery time. We also use RevLite for removal of red pigment tattoo inks. Older technology such as the Medlite C3 and C6 often left a ghost of the image making it difficult to replace the image or having to cover up the residual tattoo.

The more effectively the ink molecules are reduced, the faster the tattoo can be removed. While our lasers provide faster and more consistent results which can potentially require fewer treatments than with other lasers which saves patients time and money – it is important to note that patients can still expect to receive multiple treatments based on various aspects of their individual tattoos.

Some lightly pigmented, black or dark blue, homemade tattoos can be removed in one treatment. Amateur tattoos often clear after two to six treatments. A few amateur tattoos have very deeply placed ink, and this very deep ink can require more treatments. New tattoos usually need extra treatments because they have a higher concentration of ink than old tattoos. Older tattoos have less ink because as a tattoo ages, the body absorbs some of the ink. Tattoos on the face and trunk often respond faster to laser treatment than tattoos on the ankles.

The Speed Of Removal Depends On The Patient And Their Tattoo

The Kirby-Desai scale is a popular and well-regarded tool for analyzing the number of treatments a tattoo will need for removal. The scale accounts for the following factors that affect the rate of removal:

  • Fitzpatrick skin type
  • Amount of ink
  • Pre-existing scarring

The Kirby-Desai scale was published in 2009, and technology has improved since then to remove tattoos, but it continues to be an excellent tool for assessing where a patient stands on the bell curve. There are also other factors, such as patient health, that affect the speed of removal. If a patient is young, physically fit, and has a strong immune system, they will tend to see results faster than an older, obese patient with health problems. Encouraging patients to exercise, drink ample water, and massage thetreated area are good aftercare tips to share with patients looking to get the best results.

Technology plays an important factor in the rate of removal. The Astanza Trinity is the most powerful multi wavelength laser system on the market no other system can match its high peak power across three wavelengths. Your Whole Tattoo Can Be Erased In As Little As 4

The newer PicoSure/PicoWay tattoo removal lasers use photo-mechanical principles as opposed to photo-thermal alone, combined with ultra-short pulses, called pico-seconds to shatter the ink into minute particles which your body then eliminates itself. This powerful process means the whole tattoo can be erased in as little as 4-10 treatments. Requiring less heat and less energy means that the surrounding tissue is left unharmed and the space between treatment can be much shorter too. it is also effective on all colours, including those greens and blues!

When discussing pain with patients, its important to share that while they may experience some level of discomfort, the pain is relatively manageable and tolerable. It may take some tough love to encourage patients concerned about sensitivity.

The vast majority of tattoo removal providers offer some form of soothing to the skin during the treatment. Offering skin numbing during the procedure allows your practice to stay competitive, provide better patient care, and have higher patient satisfaction.

Lather Up On The Sunscreen Prior To Your Sessions

Once you know you’re unhappy with a tattoo on your body, immediately start using a zinc oxide sunscreen on it, says Cirlin. The most common reason people can’t get lasered is because their tattoo has had sun exposure. By using a zinc oxide anytime you’re outside, you’ll help protect your tattoo, which will allow you to get lasered regardless of the season.”

What Are The Risks Of Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment

GETTING A TATTOO LAZER REMOVAL (Before and After one session)

In most cases, the laser tattoo removal treatment leads to satisfactory fading or complete removal of the tattoo without significant side effects. Serious side effects are very unusual.

The most common problem with laser tattoo removal treatment is incomplete fading or removal of the tattoo. This is mainly an issue with complicated multicolored tattoos. Not all tattoo inks respond and rarely certain colors can get worse. Heavy professional tattoos in particular may not completely fade. Significant and sometimes irreversible darkening of tattoo ink may occur, where the pigment is impossible to remove. This is mostly a problem with flesh-colored, red, tan, and white inks, and a small test area can be done to detect this problem.

Although true scarring is very unlikely there can be some mild change in the texture of the skin . Sometimes there is pre-existing texture change in the skin caused by the tattooing process itself. Please tell us if you have a tendency toward forming unusual scars. Please note however, that Picosure laser tattoo removal has provided vast improvement in this area.

You should be mentally and emotionally stable when having any cosmetic procedure. This will help you to deal with the healing period after each treatment, and give you the patience and persistence to get through the complete series of treatments, which will be spread over many months.

Make Sure To Block Out Your Schedule

While some laser sessions are quick and easy, not all are. Mine have been taking about 45 minutes because we take before photos, clean the areas, inject them with lidocaine for freezing, laser them, ice them, and then bandage them. Oh, and sometimes a weird side effect happens where I taste metal when the laser hits my skin. Adams says it’s a sensation that some people experience when the lidocaine is hit by the laser and that it’s totally normal.

Laser Tattoo Removal Before And After

Complete removal is not quick but usually can be done in about three to six months of one session per month. After a laser tattoo removal treatment, the tattooed site will generally have an elevated, red or white discolored appearance. This symptom should not cause any alarm because it generally goes away in a day or so.

Some patients also notice that the entire tattoo seems to crust over, then flake off in a couple of weeks. This, too, is a normal part of the healing process. Most removal specialists suggest treating the area lightly with an antibiotic ointment covered with a bandaged during the healing process. The tattoo will begin to fade almost immediately. Within three to six sessions, most report that their tattoos are gone for good.

Do Not Pick Scabs Or Pop Blisters

Laser Tattoo Removal Before and After update

Blistering and scabbing are natural side effects of the healing process. Its tempting to pop and pick at your skin. Avoid this at all cost.

Opening the wound not only increases the risk of infection but also prolongs the healing process.

And as long as you have scabs or blisters on your skin, avoid shaving that area. Using a razor can cause you to open the wound accidentally.

For the best results, allow scabs to fall off and blisters to drain on their own.

Four Laser Tattoo Removal Before And After Images Showing A Single

Although the decision to purchase a tattoo, at the moment, may have seemed like a good idea, many people do not feel the same way after a few years and often choose laser treatments to remove that unwanted tattoo.

This procedure must be undertaken by a CLS professional. Tattoo removal is a common procedure with many options to consider, but the most important decision is choosing the clinic and the experienced and technically skilled CLS professional who will actually perform the removal and then administer post operative and followup care.

Not all tattoos are created equal and not all laser tattoo removal providers have technology that can remove all ink colors. This is where the Astanza Trinity laser system comes into play. Other laser tattoo removal providers cannot remove blue and green ink unless they have a ruby laser. The Astanza Trinity laser system is three lasers in one which removes all ink colors including blues and greens.

Keep in mind that if the tattoo requiring removal is large, the CLS Professional may not do the procedure all at once, but in stages because of the bodies inability to eliminate the quantity of laser shattered ink .

The Darkening Effect Is Real

Some of the ink used in cosmetic tattoos, including colors containing white ink, may darken immediately after treatment because of titanium dioxide. Laser tattoo removal can cause a release of chemicals within the skin that oxidize upon release, potentially causing the area to appear darkened or even gray in color, says Dr. Green. Fortunately, this can usually be corrected with additional treatments.

What Can I Expect Immediately After Laser Tattoo Removal

Redness, swelling, slight blistering, a little itching, and raised areas are extremely common and should be expected after treatment. The skin will feel tender and sensitive at first. It should take a maximum of two weeks for all of these responses to treatment to subside.

Fifteen minutes after removal, the area will be very red, swollen, and sometimes a little itchy. It will stay like that for a week or so. I always tell clients when I treat them, dont be alarmed at how red it gets thats totally normal, says Cooper. But by the day after treatment, it wont be painful. Even after the treatment, clients are usually feeling just fine. You can tell that theyve undergone laser treatment, but its not going to hinder them from going about their daily lives.

You may also notice a frosting effect immediately after laser removal, which gives the tattooed skin a chalky appearance. This completely normal effect just signifies the release of carbon dioxide from the skin. This temporary reaction usually only lasts for a few minutes to half an hour after laser removal. If it takes longer than that, contact your removal specialist, but thats very unlikely to happen.

Answer: First Treatment Expectations

Hello, When using an AlexTrivantage your first treatment will show very little results. This is common for q-switched lasers in general. If you can find a PicoWay laser your results will be faster as the laser is smarter about hitting the ink you have due to its advanced technology. The newer laser will be more expensive, but you will usually do less treatments and see results faster.

How Long Is The Tattoo Removal Healing Process Before You Can Book Your Next Treatment Session

Most patients require six to eight weeks between laser tattoo removal sessions.

This is because the bodys immune system needs sufficient time to do its job.

During your treatment session, the laser technology pulses light energy into your skin to cause the ink particles to explode. Your bodys immune system sends white blood cells to collect the excess ink particles and remove them for excretion.

Tattoo ink particles are too large for the white blood cells to pick up, and thats why we use laser therapy to break them down into smaller and smaller particles. Every session breaks them down even more until the immune system has got rid of every last one.

This process occurs every time you undergo treatment, so the body needs adequate time to recover each time.

Having treatments too close together can encourage the body to adapt and make treatment less effective.

There are many factors that come into play as to how long your laser tattoo removal process will take before complete removal.

You can speed up the tattoo removal healing process by eating a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, keeping hydrated with lots of water, avoid sun exposure directly on the treatment site, and avoid smoking.
