My Experience With Inkbox
Even though Ive always found the idea of getting inked to be really cool, Im one of those who is too scared to do it due to the idea of pain and seeing your blood mix with tattoo colors or fainting midway. However, the intense desire to put a memory of my first dog on me had always been something that made me seek out temporary tattoo solutions.
I had begun experimenting almost a year back with temporary inks to see how well these fared and if they really felt and looked like real tattoos or not. Sadly, most of them turned out to be just conventional inks and dyes that washed off within the first three days.
Also, on one instance Ive had to endure a nasty allergic reaction that had completely thrown me off for the time being.
I was really hooked on henna for a period of time before this as its completely natural and safe. Henna is also longer lasting than most of the other kinds of dyes.
But what Im not a fan of is the bright orange color of henna that just takes a million years to fade out completely.
It was on a friends recommendation that I tried out my first inkbox kit and the result has been quite an awesome one, to say the least!
The steps are very simple to follow, and the website provides you with an elaborate video tutorial that further simplifies the process for you.
Additionally Is Inkbox Bad For Your Skin
I get that dyeing your skin with ink can be a concern but Inkbox tattoos have been proven to be safe. The entire product is made with natural ingredients and all other materials are FDA approved. You can rest assure that the application process is harmless and that there are no harsh chemicals to be afraid of.
Nail Polish Remover Or Acetone
Applying nail polish remover onto the skin seems counterintuitive, but people claim it works. Nail polish remover contains acetone, which is a type of chemical used for nail polish removers, paint removers, and other industrial applications. Nail polish remover or acetone is safe in small amounts, but in large amounts, it can cause certain health issues.
For those using nail polish remover or acetone to remove their temporary tattoos, we recommend the following
- Apply only a few drops of nail polish remover onto a cotton ball or pad.
- Use the cotton ball or pad and gently go over the temporary tattoo.
- Go over the tattoo only a few times, and stop immediately if your skin starts reacting to the acetone .
- When the tattoo is gone, wash the area thoroughly with lukewarm water and soap.
- Apply some hydrating moisturizer to the area to nourish and recover the skin.
If you notice any skin changes or skin irritation while using nail polish remover, wash the treated area immediately! We do not recommend people with sensitive skin or skin conditions use this temporary tattoo removal method! Also, never use this method in the face and neck area, to avoid eye and skin damage!

Tip #: Moisturize Moisturize Moisturize
Your skin will rarely be over-moisturized, especially at this time of the year! Putting the heat on, the cold outside & the change of weather highly dries up your skin. And what does dry skin mean? Dead skin that will fly away. Which we dont want.
So, put a moisturizer right after the shower. That is all I did and that might be more than regular habits for most people. But if you want to take extra care of it, moisturize it day and night!
This is the moisturizer I used by Yves Rocher, $25 Olive oil one . You want to make sure that its really nourishing yet again, you can use anyone youd like.
What Do Inkbox And Tattly Claim

My Inkbox moon tattoo didn’t show up much at first but developed to a deep blue hue in 24 hours and faded to nothing in two weeks .
Inkbox: The company claims that its tattoos take 15 minutes to apply, develop over 24 to 36 hours, and last one to two weeks. The longevity depends on your daily activity, the placement of the tattoo on your body , how much you moisturize , and your skins chemistry. The site says that the ink sinks into the top layer of the skin and works with its organic compounds to change the color to dark blue or black. Both tattoos I tried looked blue on my fair skin. Inkbox claims to use a plant-based formula and be cruelty-free. To remove Inkbox tattoos, the company states that lightly scrubbing the tattoo with an exfoliant or salt water is most effective.
The Tattly rose tattoo applied perfectly , faded slightly in certain areas after a week , and was down to only remnants after two weeks .
Tattly: Most of its tattoos should last about two to four days, but ones with intricate, fine lines may fade sooner. The company also claims that the tattoos are waterproof, so you can wear them in the shower or pool, and they may even last longer if gently cleaned.
When youre ready to remove the tattoo, Tattly recommends pressing Scotch tape down over it and pulling it up . You can also use rubbing alcohol or put baby oil or lotion over it before getting into the shower.

And After A Full 10 Days It Was Basically All Gone
At day 10, the tattoo was almost all gone there was just the slightest hint of the ink left on my skin. Writing this now at the end of week two, it’s completely gone. Overall, I would recommend this for anyone who has a tattoo idea and wants to test it out. Most of the designs are only about $20, which could get expensive if you’re trying out a new one twice a month.
Tip #: Be Careful With Your Clothes
Try to choose clothes that wont rub onto your skin. Okay I KNOW, its cold and you want to protect your legs cause, well we dont want to be freezing outside.
STILL, try to choose materials that are silkier, or softer, or that its not that tight and moving as youre walking throughout the day. Jeans are some of the worst examples actually haha! They are rough, often tight, and rarely not move.
Skirts and dresses are much better! The tights dont move as much and is silkier. Yet again, you need to balance how cold it is outside because you dont want the cold to dry your skin faster either!
AHHHH the struggle haha

Then, lets get these 7 tips going!
Tips For Applying Inbox Tattoos
Inkbox has over 4,000 designs so it took me a while to figure out what I wanted but finally, they arrived and I was able to apply them! Each tattoo comes with detailed instructions on how to apply a tattoo successfully. Its basically like those tattoos you used as a kid
Inkbox tattoos require you to moisturizer your skin an hour before application. Then you peel off the first layer and apply to your skin, gently pressing on and attempting to get no wrinkles. Then, you let it sit for an hour under a plastic-wrap sheet and then peel it off slowly. And boom you have your tattoo!
Heres some additional tips you should know:
- Have a friend on hand to help you apply tattoos if you are applying more than one. I found it difficult to not ruin a tat that was already applied to my arm when I was trying to apply the second. I had to call in my husband to assist.
- DO NOT apply these on a humid day. Your sweat can cause the tattoo to not apply correctly or as well.
- Try not to move much once your tats are in their 1-hour waiting period to preserve the design as best you can.
- Dont shower or swim for at least 24 hours after applying. Wait 48 hours if you can.

How To Apply It
To make the procedures even simpler, Ive included all of the required steps for you to get it right!
It is always a good idea to shave the area you want to ink before you put the tattoo on it.
You can also exfoliate and wash the area well for cleaner skin. Dry it thoroughly before starting off with the application process.
What Couldve Been Better
The only thing that I found to be a bit complicated and tricky to manage is the ink contained in the tab. Even though the application itself is easy, managing the position of the tattoo on the required area of the skin and then going on with the wipes and cloth could be difficult to manage, especially if you dont have an extra pair of helping hands.
Also, this could be problematic if you decided to put the tattoo on a hard-to-reach area such as on the side of the rib cage or anywhere on the back.
At the time of finally peeling away the tab, the tattoo wouldnt be visible, and it will only develop within the specific hours mentioned previously. This makes it difficult for you to have an idea about how it would eventually pan out.
The tattoos last for around 8-18 days if you take good care of it. Mine, however, lasted up to 16 days on my forearm.

Use An Exfoliating Body Scrub
Exfoliating scrubs help remove dead skin cells and encourage new growth. During this process, the scrub can help break up and buff of the flecks of your temporary tattoo.
If you dont have any exfoliating products on hand, try whipping something up using whats in your kitchen. You can try combining:
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar, ground oatmeal, or coffee grounds to exfoliate
- 1/2 cup of coconut or olive oil to bind the granules together
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla to add a pleasant scent, if desired
If you want a quick fix without the DIY, head to your local drugstore or shop online for ready-made products like Himalayan salt scrub.
Be sure to use gentle, circular motions to rub whatever you use into the skin for at least 30 seconds. You can continue scrubbing if more time is needed.
What Are Inkbox And Tattly

Inkbox: This temporary tattoo company sells more than 4,000 tattoos designed by 386 artists. In addition, the company sells a freehand kit that allows you to design your own tattoo, or you can upload your own design to have it created into a tat. What sets Inkbox apart from typical temporary tattoos is the application. Inkbox uses a sticker stencil and a pad soaked with ink to temporarily dye the skin. Similar to a henna tattoo, the color develops over one to two days before slowly fading away with wear in a week or two. This means, though, that all designs are limited to a monochrome pen-and-ink color scheme. At the heart of the company is self-expression and artistic integrity: No matter who you arewhether youre male, female, or non-binary black, white, or brown hurting, healing or somewhere in-between, were here to ensure that you have the tools to express yourself…even if that self changes.

Then Are There Tattoos That Last 6 Months
Some tattoo artists have claimed that they can create a 6month tattoo by only injecting the ink into the top layers of the skin, and several tattoo inks have been claimed to fade until they vanish. Both of these methods purport to result in tattoos that last from 6 months to several years.

Most temp tattoos only last a few days. Inkbox lasts up to 1-2 weeks, gradually fading as your skin exfoliates. Shower, sweat, and go about your day. Just avoid scrubbing and youre good to go.

I had done the same to get the tattoo of my beloved dogs pugmark, where I had to scan and send one of the photographs I had of it. It came out looking brilliant and was delivered quickly with the other essentials in the kit. Couldnt have asked for more!
Things I Didnt Like About Inkbox
And, no the things that arent so great about my experience with Inkbox. Overall, I found it hard to apply a sleeve to yourself since you have to move If you are just applying one tattoo you shouldnt have a problem, but grab a friend if you are doing more than one.
On that note, the tattoos come with a rim of paper that you are supposed to peel off after applying the tat, but before the 1-hour countdown. I dont know why, but we found it SUPER hard to peel off the rim of paper. A lot like trying to open those plastic bags at the grocery store to put your veggies in. Even Robin, with two hands, couldnt easily take it off. Next time I would just leave that rim of paper on to avoid excessive movement.
The other major issue is that not all areas of the body accept tattoos in the same way. I did have an Inkbox Fail with my large Lana circle. As you can see from the photo below, it didnt apply evenly despite my best efforts. It was also the first tattoo to fade, so I learned that not every area of the body will accept or hold a temporary tattoo in the same way. Luckily I had two other designs that stayed longer, but I would have been very sad if I spent $25 on a tattoo that didnt actually work or last.
In regards to how tattoos look like on the site vs in real life, I did feel that a few tattoos look bigger in the photos than they do on the body. Thats probably a user error in my judgment but I do want to point that out!
