Lubriderm Vs Cetaphil: Cost $$$
One major difference and another factor to consider when deciding between Lubriderm vs Cetaphil skincare products is price.
Cetaphil products are known to be more expensive than Lubriderm and compared to Lubriderm products, Cetaphil products come in smaller packaging with less product per ounce.
So in terms of cost, Lubriderm is the clear winner.
Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion
Lubriderm contains glycerin, which helps maintain moisture in the skin, as well as vitamin B5, which promotes faster healing, two important factors needed in lotions used in tattoo aftercare. Lubriderm is also quite affordable, which is always a plus.
Lubriderms formula also gives it soothing properties, and the lotion is smooth on the skin. It can be quickly absorbed by the skin, which is good news since you can wear their clothes without having that sticky feeling.
I do have to point out that Lubriderm contains mineral oil. Some would prefer to avoid applying anything that has mineral oil on their tattoos due to certain opinions of it being harmful to the skin. Data is still being collected by the scientific community on this point. If that is a deal-breaker for you, then you can skip ahead to the next entry in this list.
Billy Jealousy Marked Iv Tattoo Care
If you are not familiar with wheat germ oil, it is a nutrient-rich substance that contains vitamins A, B, D, and E. It also has fatty acids and antioxidant properties. While Billy Jealousy lotions come in lavender and rosemary oil fragrance, I highly recommend you always stick with the scent-free variation.
Billy Jealousy Aftercare Lotion is designed specifically for taking care of your tattoos. It also comes in a tattoo aftercare kit bundle that comes with all the essential ointments to guarantee your tattoo heals up nicely.
- Comes in a mild yet fragrant lavender smell that does not cause any irritation to the skin
- Bundle includes a salve designed to soothe
- Kit includes all essential tattoo care products

The 9 Best Lotions For Healing A New Tattoo
If this is your first tattoo, then welcome to the club! Getting inked is an incredibly personal journey, and even if youre still in the initial research phase, whether that be looking for the right tattoo design, or reading up on maintenance, I suggest you do your due diligence by making sure you ask all necessary questions of your tattoo artist. But of course, here at The Manual, we have you covered on tips you need to follow for your first tattoo, including optimal aftercare.
Tattoos are one of the ultimate and most personal forms of self-expression that allows you to use your body as a literal blank canvas to create art. Tattoos symbolizing triumph, paying homage to a lost loved one, or even the name of your ex-lover all have one thing in common, according to experienced tattoo artists: Diligent after-care. One of the most crucial steps after getting your tattoo is understanding what products you need to ensure speedy healing. You want to keep your new ink as moisturized as possible to avoid itchiness and dryness. The last thing you want to do is delay the healing of your beautiful ink by scratching it and causing possible damage. Heres some of our picks for Tattoo Artist approved lotions, salves, and creams for tattoos.
Dont: Touch Your Healing Piece With Unwashed Hands
Our hands and the hands of our friends, family, lovers, and children are all equally filthy. Do not touch your tattoo unless you have freshly washed your hands. Keeping your new tattoo clean is Rule #1 in the healing process and washing your tattoo a few times a day will avoid a potential infection.

Ingredients To Look Out For
When shopping for tattoo lotions, always be sure to read the ingredients list. Not only does it let you find ingredients you may be allergic to, but it will also help you understand the exact benefits each lotion can provide to your skin.
Things to Consider
Moisturizing ingredients such as aloe vera, coconut oil, and vitamin E are all great things to have in a lotion. You may also want to select a lotion that has shea butter or soothing plant extracts, like chamomile, as part of its formula.
Be sure to select a lotion that is non-comedogenic. This means the lotion will work to moisturize without clogging pores, an especially important consideration for a new tattoo. Lotions without the non-comedogenic label can impede healing and cause breakouts.
Things to Avoid
Colorants, alcohols, and strong preservatives should all be avoided. These ingredients can irritate skin or lead to an infection in someone with very sensitive skin completely avoiding them will help ensure your tattoo heals healthily.
Strong fragrances are another ingredient to steer clear of. Fragrances are often the cause of allergic reactions, and your tattoo runs the risk of becoming infected due to overly perfumed lotions. Light, naturally scented lotions may be ok for some people, but especially if you have sensitive skin, fragrance-free is the best way to go.
Now that weve discussed the basics of tattoo lotions, lets head straight into our list!
Can I Sleep On A Fresh Tattoo
Avoid sleeping directly on your new tattoo, at least the first 4 days. The goal is to try your best not to put any pressure on your tattoo and to keep it from touching anything, at least as much as possible. A healing tattoo needs lots of fresh air and oxygen, so try not to smother it while sleeping.

Why Does My Tattoo Feel Raised
Why is My Tattoo Raised and Itchy at the Same Time? The reason that your skin gets itchy, and may even peel off, is because your top layer of skin is essentially shedding. What Does A Lotion Do To A Tattoo
Lotions or healing ointments nourish and moisturize a tattoo. Similar to when you scrape yourself, your body forms a scab to protect the open wound your tattoo will attempt to do this too. Keeping your tattoo moisturized keeps it from scabbing and keeps it healthy.
Skin-Nourishing and hydrating ingredients can keep your skin healthy as well as speed up your tattoo healing process. The less your tattoo scabs, the less it will itch, and the less youll be tempted to scratch or pick at it!

What Are Actually Lotions / Moisturizers For Healing A New Tattoo And Why These Are Important To Apply
When you think about skincare and makeup, moisturizers that suits your skin type without damaging the skin cells top the list. A tattoo moisturizer is something that tops the priority list of makeup and skincare routine when you have a tattoo.
A moisturizer that smoothens the skin as well as can be applied for makeup to enhance the look of your tattoo is perfect to go for. These are lightweight moisturizers with ingredients that promote radiance and hydration of the skin and tattoo. The way of using a tattoo moisturizer is very much similar to that of a normal moisturizer.
Cetaphil Intensive Healing Lotion
The Cetaphil intensive healing lotion is an intense skin solution for rough, flaky, sensitive skin.
It contains amino acids and ceramides, a lipid naturally found in skin cells and makes up about 50% of the epidermis.
Ceramides help to hydrate the skin, repairing its natural moisture barrier while the amino acids absorb moisture to keep it supple and soft.
This lotion is gentle on sensitive skin, without irritation or inflammation.
There have been disputes, however, that it doesnt actually hydrate for 24 hours or heal cracked skin.
This is a good moisturizer for all skin types, but especially skin with issues such as irritation, roughness, tightness, dryness, or a weakened skin barrier.

Showering With Your Tattoo
Most experts recommend that you wait a day after receiving your tattoo before jumping in the shower. You new ink needs time to settle and your skin needs to recover from the trauma of tattooing.
After the first 24 hours have passed however, you are free to take a shower just dont soak your tattoo. Wash it lightly with alcohol- and fragrance-free soap and try to keep it out of the direct shower stream as much as possible. You can do this by filling your hands with water and splashing it on your tattoo when washing it.
Keep in mind that the shower temperature shouldnt be too hot. Heat can cause skin to dry out, and dry skin will only make your tattoo itchier.
After showering, pat your tattoo dry with a clean towel or a handful of paper towels. Never rub at or scrub your tattoo because not only will it hurt, you risk infecting your it and ruining the look of the ink. Apply your favorite after drying and youre good to go.
