Can We Go To Heaven With Tattoos

Does Everybody Go To Heaven

Can We Go To Heaven With Tattoos? Are Tattoos A Sin? (Bible Facts!)

Many people speak as if everyone will make it to heaven. There is a prevailing though that all you have to do is be born, and then die, and you will be admitted to into paradise. A popular Christian pastor and author declared a few years back that love wins in the end, and that no one actually goes to hell.

Made In The Image Of God

The other argument against the virtue of ink is that it involves altering the human body and therefore Gods creation:

Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness .

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, which is in you, which you have from God, and that you are not yours? Because you have been bought with a price therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which is Gods .

The idea, then, is that we should try to keep our bodies pure and without blemish, and tattoos are a kind of violation of Gods perfect creation.

However, taken to the extreme, this would mean that we should also refrain from getting haircuts or manicures.

In fact, Leviticus 19:27 says, You shall not make tonsure on your heads, nor injure the tip of your beard. Bad news for the Beatles!

So getting a tattoo potentially counts as polluting Gods creation, but it also does all kinds of things that it would be unreasonable to refrain from.

Why Do Some Christians Believe Tattoos Are Worldly

Some Christians agree that Leviticus 19:28 doesnt forbid people from getting modern-day tattoos, as long as their motivation doesnt concern ancient pagan mourning rituals. Yet, they still believe that its wrong for Christians to get tattoos because they are worldly.

When Christians describe a value or behavior as worldly, they mean it comes from a value system that is secular and ungodly. The contrast to worldliness for many Christians is holiness, which means to be set apart for God. According to this way of thinking, tattoos arent inherently evil, but they associate believers with the godless elements of life.

The verses in the Bible that teach about worldliness dont specifically mention tattoos. Rather, some readers apply the teaching of such verses to modern trends that arent rooted in the church, such as getting tattoos.

  • Romans 12:2, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect .
  • James 4:4, You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God .
  • 1 John 2:15, Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him

What Is Gods Will In Heaven

Praying for the will of God to be done in and through our lives on earth, as it is in heaven, means that we are willing to go through whatever might prevent that purpose from being accomplished. Our prayer is that we want to be so aligned with the will and purpose of God that we ask God to empower us to accomplish it.

Can Short People Go To Heaven

Can CHRISTIAN Get TATTOOS | Can We Go to HEAVEN With TATTOOS

We are all the same in the eyes of God. God does not differentiate people based on skin color, height or anything like that. Can short people go to heaven when they die? Height is not a factor in the eternal destination of any person. The idea that they are unable to accomplish this is based on the misinterpretation of the Old Testament passage that mentions dwarfism. The verse referring to those with short stature does not talk about heaven going to whom and who isnt.

Why Do Some People Believe That Getting Tattoos Is Worldly

A few Christians believe that Leviticus 19:28 does not prohibit people from getting tattoos in the modern age insofar the motive doesnt involve an ancient pagan funeral ritual. However, they believe that its not right for Christians to have tattoos since theyre considered worldly.

When Christians refer to a characteristic or value in a way that is worldly, they mean its a part of an ideology of value that is ungodly and secular. For many Christians, the difference between worldliness is holiness, which translates to being set apart for God. According to this method of thinking, tattoos arent necessarily bad, but they can be a way to connect Christians with the ungodly aspects of their lives.

Can We Go To Heaven With Tattoos After Death

Can we go to heaven with tattoos after death?

  • 2021-10-02T10:30:20+05:30Added an answer on October 2, 2021 at 10:30 am

Answer: Christians are not expected to have tattoos in heaven.

Due to the fact that Christianity is not polytheistic, ones religious journey would be based on the life spent on earth before coming there. For example, if Jesus was painted with a particular tattoo of an early martyr of his faith , and you received this same image on your body after death, Christian doctrine would say that by accepting this new image during your lifetime you were aligning yourself with the purpose and message of Jesus Christ. If accepted into heaven post-life for these reasons, then it would disqualify you from residing in such a holy state given that such rites only apply to those who live their lives devoted to God or certain Saints but in absence of such a life in this world before death, your body could be in no way holy.

Tattoos Mentioned In The Old Testament

We cannot leave the discussion of tattoos without looking at the Old Testament law that prohibited tattoos: Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD .

In this passage, the explanation for the prohibition of tattoos is not mentioned, but tattooing was probably a pagan activity associated with idolatry and superstition.

with the name of a false god or with a sign honoring some deity was possibly popular for the pagans. God was asking His children to be different.

The Israelites belonged to Him as He reminded them in the same verse, I am the LORD. They were His workmanship, and they could not carry on their bodies the name of a false god.

Although believers in the New Testament are not under the Mosaic Law, we may take from this command the idea that it should never be for superstitious purposes or to spread worldly ideology if a Christian wishes to get a tattoo.

The bottom line is that it is not a sin to have a tattoo, per se. It is a matter of Christian liberty and should be guided and rooted in love by biblical values.

    People Will Judge You

Romans 14:23 reminds us that anything that does not come from faith is sin. We need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God.

    Romans 14:23

Although 1 Corinthians 6:1920 is not directly applicable to the body to be tattooed or imprinted, as a general rule, Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in you? And you have been given from God, and you are not yours? Since you were bought by a price, you must be a praising God through your body.

What Does The Bible Say About Tattoos

    A step

The Bible does not make any specific reference towards getting or having tattoos. To get a tattoo, here are some general biblical concepts that might apply:

Children are to respect their parents and follow them . It is biblically unsupportable for a minor to have a tattoo in defiance of their parents wishes. Rebellion-born tattoos are sinful.

Outward adornment is not as relevant as the growth of the inner self and should not be a Christians priority . A person who wishes to get attention or attract praise from a tattoo has a selfish, sinful fixation on himself.

God sees the heart, and glorifying God should be our inspiration for everything we do . The reasons for having a tattoo, such as fit in,stand out, etc., fall short of Gods glory. The tattoo itself may not be a sin, but it might be the reason to get it.

Our bodies have been purified and belong to Creator, as well as our souls. The believers body is the temple of the Holy Spirit . How much improvement is sufficient for that temple? Is there a line that is not meant to be crossed?

Is there a point at which painting ceases to be the proliferation of tattoos on one body and begins to become sinful mutilation? This should be a topic of meditation on individuals and sincere prayer.

We are ambassadors of Christ, bringing the word of God to the world . What message does the tattoo give, and will it benefit or distract from Christs representation and gospel sharing?
