Grimm And Dangerous Visitors
The designs and flash created by Grimm have been instrumental in the world of tattooing, and many of them can still be found in use in shops around the world to this day. He was also a notorious story teller, and people came from far and wide to hear what he had to say, and to be educated in quality tattoo practices.
One of Grimms most well-known students and partners was Owen Jensen. He worked with Grimm in his Nu-Pike shop during the 1950s and 1960s, although he later moved down the street to work with Lee Roy Minugh.
Nu-Pike wasnt all fun and games, as it attracted an increasingly diverse and dangerous crowd, including bikers and sailors that were looking for the darker side of the entertainment that was on offer, and the area came to have a reputation for being one of the roughest areas around. Many people were mugged or even attacked there after night had fallen and the families had gone home.

I got this tattoo in August & it still looks amazing. I spent $160 for a pine tree which is two inches tall & roughly one inch wide.This is exactly what I wanted it to look like. It wasnt very painful. I would definitely get a tattoo from here again.
Been here twice to get tattoos and very pleased with how they look. Both times the crew was friendly, personable, and talented. Prices were reasonable and I was able to be seen same day which made things easier for my schedule. Will definitely come back for my next tattoo.
This was my 1st tattoo by Damien King and it was great! It only took around 33 minutes and had little to no pain. I will definitely get another tattoo from Port city!.

History Of Long Beach
For over 10,000 years, indigenous people have lived in Southern California on the coast as well as many other cultures that have lived in the area that we know as Long Beach, California. Spanish explorers had arrived in the area that would be known as Long Beach by the 16th century and by the time they arrived, the Tongva people had been the main group living in the area. In the present day area of Long Beach, there had been at least three major settlements. Near the Los Angeles river you would find the Tevaaxaanga and at the same time, the Povuunga and Ahwaanga were also coastal villages. Due to political change, missionization and a big drop in population from disease brought over by the Europeans, the settlements, along with the Tongva, had to relocate in the middle of the 19th century.
King Carlos III from the Spanish Empire, gave Manuel Nieto Rancho Los Nietos in 1784. The Rancho Los Alamitos and Rancho Los Cerritos were split up from this region. Signal Hill was the dividing point between these two ranchos and was on an angel from northeast to southwest. Long Beach was actually part of a section of Rancho San Pedro. The boundaries of the area were argued for yeas because of the flooding that changed the boundaries of the Los Angeles River. It was between Manuel Nieto and Juan Jose Dominguez ranchos.
