If you know how to apply false or strip eyelashes, and you are using a good, hypoallergenic glue, there is no harm in using them. Remove them at night and make sure that you are cleansing the area because whether or not you are on chemotherapy, you always want to make sure that your eye area is kept clean.

Salon Owner Provides Free Microblading For Cancer Patients

A midstate salon owner is raising eyebrows while literally filling them in at no cost for cancer patients.

Cindy Getz, owner of Shear Elegance in Jonestown, Lebanon County, says its her way of giving back.

Im a strong believer that when you look good, you feel good, Getz said.

She offers free microblading services to cancer patients who may have lost their eyebrow hair due to treatment.

Its a $300 procedure but Getz says its not about the money.

With this procedure, theyre able to get up and go, and they dont have to worry about oh, do I have to make my eyebrows look nice?’ she said. If everybody did that in the world, with their gifts, wouldnt the world just be a better place?

Friday, breast and skin cancer survivor, Terri Bucks, had her eyebrows filled in thanks to Getzs microblading offer.

It starts with a consultation, discussing how long, thick, and arched the client wants their brow. Next, thin, paper cut-like incisions are made in the eyebrow and ink is smeared over it, then rubbed in.

Getz calls it a semi-permanent tattoo that will last 12-18 months, and gradually disappear with time before another touch-up is needed.

Some of us, we dont have eyebrows, we dont have eyelashes, we dont have hair, and she just makes us feel special, said Bucks, who got choked up talking about receiving the free service.

Thats why I do what I do, I like to make people feel good and feel like they look great, said Getz.

Creating Eyebrows After Hair Loss | Roswell Park Patient Education

Most cancer patients fear the dramatic change in their appearance. Others are completely aware of this change, knowing that they might have to turn to semi-permanent and permanent makeup as a solution. But why is microblading so special and so perfect for cancer patients?

All cancer patients hope that they will, once again, be able to go back to their natural eyebrows, so its perfectly logical that the microblading procedure is the best option as it mimics hair follicles in the best possible way.

The microblading procedure per se is a great one for any cancer survivor, and all of them, provided they have finished with chemo or if theyre not taking any other medications in the moment, are eligible for a procedure. However, even though anyone is eligible for the procedure after their recovery, its important to note that there is an increased risk of infection. This means that the patient should seek GPs approval.

Chemotherapy Cant Take Your Brows

Microblading will give you back your old eyebrows: Whether you liked or disliked your eyebrows prior to your chemotherapy treatments you can easily get your desired brows back! More times than not patients love the results of their microbladed brows even more than their previous brows they had. At Better Brows we are often told that no one is able to identify the difference between microblading and the eyebrows you were born with. It gives off such a natural look that is so subtle, putting so many smiles on faces across the world.

Youll have more confidence: With microblading being so natural it will give you the confidence you may have never experienced before. This happens all the time even with clients who had eyebrows when getting microblading done to enhance their look. The pigments we use are all organic and vegan products so therefore the color remains very subtle and natural, unlike other permanent make up that sometimes turns an ashy grey color. Even with the fact that the brows fade over time they will never look embarrassing or noticeable that you had a procedure done.

No down time: One of the best things about microblading is that there is no down time and you get immediate results right after the procedure. You wont have to keep coming back every few weeks either until the process is finished. Also, you wont have to worry about being swollen or wearing bandages or anything over your brows. Thats right you get to walk out the door with perfect eyebrows!
