What To Know About Color Tattoo Removal

Tattoo removal – Which tattoo colors can you remove

A common misconception about laser tattoo removal is that blue, green, and purple inks are impossible to remove . A Note About Wavelengths

There are some other wavelengths used for tattoo removal namely 585nm and 650nm. While these wavelengths could potentially be a good choice for removing blue and green inks in theory, they cannot produce the same energy as the 1064nm and 875nm wavelengths.

Beware of clinics that tell you they can remove your blue, green, or purple tattoo with these wavelengths when in reality, they really cant. They might be able to start the removal, but they wont be able to completely remove your tattoo. We have many clients who have gone down this road only to come to Removery where we actually have the appropriate technology to remove these tattoo ink colors completely.

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work

During a laser tattoo removal treatment, the laser is used to disrupt the ink pigment that is embedded in the skin. Lasers use highly concentrated pulses of energy that are absorbed by the pigment in the tattoo. The pigments are then broken down into tiny particles. This ink is then safely absorbed by the body and flushed away by the bodys lymphatic system. These pigments then fade and disappear over time.

When it comes to removing color, different wavelengths of light are absorbed by different tattoo ink colors. The right wavelength will need to be directed at the targeted ink color and will then be able to break it down.

Typically, black and gray tattoos are the easiest to remove. Red inks are the second easiest to remove, and the darker blues, greens, and purples are more difficult to remove. The key to color removal is to be able to direct the correct wavelength at the specific color you wish to remove.

At Flawless Med Spa, we can remove all the colors of tattoo ink because our Pico lasers are able to operate at multiple wavelengths to remove darker inks, brighter inks, and the most difficult to remove blue-greens.

Ink Rejection Or Allergy

Color tattoo removal before and after.Tattoo removal north ...

At any stage in the healing process, the body may reject an ink color. If the body is allergic to an ink, a raised and painful rash may form on the skin.

To avoid ink rejection, some tattoo artists will do an allergy test with the color in question by applying a small amount to the skin. If it causes a reaction, it is not safe to use.

Ink allergies may occur because tattoo ink colors contain many different substances. For example, black ink contains carbon, and red ink contains mercury sulfide.

Anyone experiencing a rash on or around a tattoo should visit a doctor, who can identify and treat the rash. The person may also wish to contact their tattoo artist.

Each tattoo artist is likely to have a different recommendation for what moisturizer someone should use. Common recommendations include:

  • alcohol-free healing ointments, such as Eucerin or Curel

Tattoos are a lifelong commitment and require some special care to keep them looking good for many years to come.

Your First Laser Removal Session

Before a laser tattoo removal session, your physician will determine which type of laser to use and how many treatments youll need. The number of required treatments is based on the tattoos age, size, type, and pigment depth. Before determining an appropriate treatment plan, your physician will first test out the laser on your skin to see how it reacts.

So what happens during a laser tattoo removal treatment? Before the session starts a medical professional will apply an anesthetic cream, and youll be given protective eye gear to wear, along with a cooling device. The medical professional will then gently place a hand piece against your skin and deliver laser pulses to the tattoo pigment. With each laser pulse, most people experience a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against their skin. The amount of laser pulses depends on the tattoos size, but most treatment sessions only last a few minutes.

Where Do I Start

Once youve decided that using laser treatment to remove your unwanted tattoo is the right move for you, where do you go from there? Its important to find a trustworthy, experienced partner who can make your treatments go as smoothly and effectively as possible.

Go With the Pros

When youre getting a tattoo removed, you want it done right. After all, the whole point is to make it appear as if the tattoo were never there in the first place. Thats why youll want to go with proven professionals who have the training, experience, and passion to do the best job possible for you.

At Bentley Skincare & Wellness, our staff includes a doctor and multiple licensed estheticians and laser technicians. In addition to years of training and experience specifically in the area of skincare, our dedicated and passionate staff also bring a host of other valuable professional and life experience to their practice, resulting in a unique and multifaceted approach to their work.

How to Prepare

Other than a commitment to do what it takes to get rid of that pesky tattoo once and for all, there is not much that you need to do to prepare for a laser treatment to remove your tattoo. Because it is a safe, relatively noninvasive technique that targets the ink particles and ignores your skin, you might find the experience of removing your tattoo to be a much more pleasant experience than getting it was.

The Painful Price To Pay For Regret

Getting your soulmates name tattooed on you seemed like a great idea when you were certain youd be together forever, but after that didnt go as planned, that permanent ink etched into your skin has got to go.

Laser tattoo removal sounds like a simple solution to the problem, but the process is actually a lot more complicated than you may think. You may have seen Smarter Every Days video about the process of getting tattooed, but they decided to make another one investigating the laser removal process.

According to the video, tattoo ink can be pretty stubborn since the inks tend to be made of compounds from heavy metals like lead, copper, and manganese. These metals are what gives the tattoos their permanence, so to remove it, those ink particles must be broken up by lasers.

The removal lasers, also called ultra-short pulse lasers, are extremely hot and work in a rapid manner. The removal laser in the video is called a PicoLaser, and it works on a scale of picoseconds, or a trillionth of a second. Its hard to even imagine a trillionth of a second, but the extreme speed and heat are critical to break up the stubborn ink particles.

What About Home Treatments

Tattoo removal creams and chemical peels are the most widely available and least expensive option. Theres a reason why: Theres no solid evidence that they work.

At best, they might slightly lighten a tattoo, according to anecdotal reports. At worst, they can result in a serious chemical burn .

Due to the high risk of skin irritation and allergic reaction, experts dont recommend using DIY tattoo removal creams to get rid of your tattoo.

And Which Ink Colors Are More Difficult To Get Rid Of

These require laser light between 694nm and 755nm, which are the wavelengths of barely visible red light. These wavelengths do target the aforementioned colors most effectively, but with significantly less power than what would be required for black ink, for example. The same applies to brighter or neon colors as well.

We would say that white ink is the hardest to remove. It doesnt absorb any of the infrared light. There have been cases where white ink tattoos turned dark after a laser removal procedure.

Tattoo Colors For Different Skin Tones

Tattoo ink is deposited under the skin and remains in the dermis layer. Your skin tone and pigment will be on top of the layer when the tattoo ink lays, meaning it could affect the way your inking looks. Here are the best tattoo colors for your skin tone.

For Pale Skin

Most tattoo colors will show up well for pale skin. The growing trend of using white ink looks amazing on pale skin. Itâs subtle and delicate but can allow you to carry a message on your skin. The issue with the white ink trend is that it fades very quickly, especially when exposed to sunlight.

For Fair Skin

Fair skin tones support nearly all tattoo colors. Yellow doesnât look very good on this skin tone, it sometimes has a scar-like effect. Be mindful at tattooing shades of orange as it can be very difficult to remove.

For Medium Skin

Medium skin tones really pull of tattoo ink in blue, red, purple, and black. Orange and yellow can be difficult to see and will fade quickly. White and green shades look better on medium to deep skin tones, but make ideal accents on medium skin tattoos.

For Dark Skin

The outline and border of tattoos on dark skin should always be bold and black. Black and red are the idea tattoo colors on dark skin, any lighter will be hard to read and will fade very quickly.

If you are wondering if your favorite tattoo style or dream design will suit your skin tone, speak to your tattoo artist. They will know what works best for your skin and help you choose the right colors.

White Ink Can Make Your Tattoo Look Better And Add A Level Of Depth

Again, white ink cannot fix your tattoo or take anything away from it however, it may be able to make your tattoo look better and possibly give your tattoo a new depth which may be enough to fix your tattoo in your eyes.

Adding white ink to a tattoo can be like giving your tattoo a makeover and making it new again it adds new details and adds a new depth into your existing tattoo that can change the tattoos entire look.

For example, if you have gotten a tattoo of a mandala geometric design that is just black line work, and you are very unhappy with the way that it looks, you could always go ahead and ask your tattoo artist to add some white ink into the tattoo.

The white ink that is tattooed around the mandala will make it look like it is popping up more, giving your tattoo more of a 3D look. The white ink that is tattooed into the mandala can make the tattoo as a whole look more lively and vibrant, even without any colors being added to it.

White ink can make almost all tattoos pop when it is added around the edges of a tattoo the white ink will blend in a fair amount with your skin once it is healed and will give your tattoo the illusion that it is standing out instead of being a flat image.

If this is something you feel may help your tattoo look better if you are unhappy with it, go talk to your tattoo artist and find a way to work some white ink into your tattoo.

My Journey With Laser Removal

Do tattoo remove from light skin heal fast.Salabrasion ...

I went to a laser tattoo removal consultant three weeks after getting the tree tattoo. We did a few tests to see how well I would deal with the pain, and it was okay!

Some of the barbed wire tattoo is already in the process of going bye-bye. As for the tree, I’d never be able to pay for that to be removed. I am planning on adding light, interesting colors to brighten it so that it doesn’t look so black and fierce.

I will continue the creams on the tree, but as for the barbed wire, it’s going to be lasered.

How Do I Choose A Cover

The process of applying a cover-up tattoo is not the same as a fresh tattoo because it involves a combination of two coats of colors and the merging of two designs.

Color is a crucial factor when choosing a cover-up tattoo. A fresh tattoo is applied to the dermis layer of the skin. During the application of new ink on the old one, the two colors will mix to give a resultant coloration.

For instance, if the old Tattoo is red and the new tattoo blue, they will mix to purple. You have to apply various coats of blue to get your cover-up tattoo to be blue.

Meanwhile, inking on the skin does not work like the normal application of paint on the canvas, where you expect to cover up an old color by applying several layers of paint on the old coats. Concealing of colors in Tattoo involves color blending, shading, and the depth of the colors.

If the old Tattoo was black, you need to cover it up with another dark pigment. Deep blue, white, or dark green are excellent colors for covering up Black. When covering black, the Artist spends a lot of time applying several coats of the new color. Most cover-up artists prefer to use black color when undertaking cover up tattoos. Generally, light colors are easier to cover than dark colors.

In a situation where your old Tattoo is dark in color, the Artist may recommend that you wait for the color to fade before undertaking a cover-up.

How Much Does Laser Tattoo Removal Cost

Tattoo removal can cost anywhere from $25 to thousands per session, with the average being nearly $450 per session. What youll spend depends on the:

  • Size and color of your tattoo

  • Type of laser used

  • How many treatments you need

  • Which provider you choose

It will be more expensive to remove tattoos that are larger or have multiple colors. Older model lasers might be cheaper, but could require more treatment sessions. Its a good idea to ask your provider to explain the different laser options available for your particular tattoo.

Tattoo removal is considered an elective procedure and isnt typically covered by insurance. In most cases, you also cant use a health savings account or flexible spending account to pay for laser tattoo removal.

Color Tattoos Are Typically More Challenging To Remove

Youd think that deep, dark, black and grey tattoos would be harder to remove. However, this is typically not the case.

When using the commonplace method known asq-switched laser removal, removing colored ink is actually harder. This is because this laser removal process has been designed to specifically target black ink. Right away, you can see the innate fault of this supposed solution. In addition, varying dyes respond to different light wavelengths. As mentioned, black is the easiest, followed by dark green. On the flip side, yellow, purple, light blues , light greens, and fluorescent dyes are the hardest to fade and can be almost impossible to outright remove. The other colors also present challenges in differing degrees.
